Light & Shadow

The East with its customs, beliefs and traditions exerts a strong charm on a large part of the West. My 'oriental spirit' has manifested itself very recently; it was born from a 'game' of fate and showed me a side of myself that I didn't know. My paintings try to describe what I love most about this 'part of the sky'.

My East

Fate and a courageous choice took me to a magical place, so different from the one I live in but close to my heart.

I wanted to get to know it and understand its various facets.

This painting represents a specific event and each element is a symbol of an instant that changed its history.

Inside my book "the other side of the sky" I included a detailed explanation of each pictorial choice as well as everything I learned about a unique place with a sweet name which in the West translates as "Fragrant Harbour" and in the East is called Hong Kong!

Scent of Freedom

This painting was born from a photograph published by the person who "guided" me to Hong Kong: a wonderful view from Victoria Harbour. Created as a tribute to a place that has a very particular charm for me, it became the cover of my book.

The Pavilion of Absolute Perfection
(Nan Lian)

Also known as the "Golden Pavilion" is located on the Kowloon Peninsula (HK), surrounded by a lotus pond and reached via a red bridge.

This is how I imagine my climb towards  what is hidden from the eyes but clearly visible in the heart.

Towards the dream

Oil on canvas

'Like the Phoenix, sometimes we must be able to die a little inside in order to be reborn and resurrect in a stronger and wiser version of ourselves'.

The Phoenix

The Koi fish in Eastern culture is a symbol of good luck, love, prosperity, courage, strength, ambition, perseverance in the face of adversity, and success.

The Carp

It is one of Hong Kong's most iconic symbols: tall, wooden boats with three bright red sail glistening in the sunlight in Victoria Harbour.

The Lotus flower

'Be like the Lotus, trust in the light, rise from the dirt and believe in new beginnings.' The Lotus flower represents purity and perfection: despite growing in the mud it maintains its beauty and rises from it, becoming a symbol of resilience and rebirth.

...how many times have we found ourselves faced with something unknown, alone and afraid to continue...but no matter how difficult the road is and how many shadows cloud our eyes, we know that we will take the first step and we will dive into the unknown...

The Unknown

2024 is the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese calendar.

The dragon represents prosperity, awakening and freedom.

Like cherry blossoms, our lives are ephemeral, but our impact can be profound.

Every moment is unique: it is up to us to make it important and unforgettable.
